Kinder Hippo Brownies Recipe

If you love Kinder Bueno and chocolate brownies, these Kinder hippo brownies are the ones for you.

I absolutely love Kinder Bueno and Kinder hippos. That crisp wafer with the smooth hazelnut cream? Yum. Baked into fudgy chocolate brownies? Even better.

I was recently sent some hazelnut cream spread from Black Milk (a Manchester-based cafe and dessert spot with a branch in London) as a PR product for Instagram, and it was so good I ate a couple of spoonfuls from the jar as it is. There are a few other options on the internet though, if you can't get ahold of Black Milk's version of it.

You can also see me make this on my YouTube channel:

Ready? Let's go.

Ingredients:

185g unsalted butter
180g dark chocolate
200g light muscovado sugar
3 eggs
85g plain flour
40g cocoa powder
Pinch of salt
4 x packets of Kinder Bueno (8 sticks altogether), roughly chopped
5 tbsp hazelnut cream spread
10 x Kinder Hippos

Method:

1. Preheat the oven to 180°C, and line an 8x12" pan with baking parchment.

2. Melt the butter and chocolate together in a saucepan over a low heat, remove from the heat, and stir in the sugar. Leave to cool a little before the next step (you don't want to melt the Kinder Bueno pieces).

3. Stir in the eggs, flour, cocoa powder and salt along with 2/3 of the Kinder Bueno pieces. Dot the rest of the pieces on top.

4. Bake for about 25 minutes, or until the centre no longer wobbles.

5. Leave to cool completely. Meanwhile, heat the hazelnut cream spread in a small saucepan on a low heat until runny.

6. Drizzle the melted hazelnut cream over the top of the cooled brownies, and quickly dot the hippoes on top. Once cooled and set, slice up the brownies and serve.

Enjoy, and have fun.
